Product Description

This sleek, 14” 40V Lawn Mower with Intellicut™ and Mulching Capabilities is packed with technology and doesn’t skimp on power. With two of our 20V 4.0 Ah batteries giving it 40V, you get double the runtime and double the efficiency. Intellicut is our patented torque tech that lets you dial up the power when you get into thicker grass and then dial it back down to conserve battery when the grass gets easier to manage. It’s a powerful but energy-efficient mower. And that’s just where the benefits start. Gas-powered mowers are messy, costly, and can wake up the whole block. Worx battery-powered machines are clean, both to operate and for the environment, and cost-effective because electricity costs less than gas. They’re also much quieter by comparison, and start with the touch of a button, not the repeated yank of a cord. This mower weighs in at only 29 lbs. and has a 14” cutting deck that’s easy to zip around landscaped features, yet wide enough to cut down on the passes you’ll have to make on your lawn. The 6-positon cutting height ranges from 2.5”- 3.5”. The 4Ah batteries give you up to 1/8 acre cut on a single charge. It’s a better mower for today, tomorrow, and years to come.

This is an impressive lawn mower. Solid, well-constructed, easy to set up and use, easy to start up, and cuts the grass evenly and nicely. While the large box used for shipping the lawn mower arrived damaged on one end, there was no damage to the lawn mower inside. This is not a lightweight mower. So be very very careful removing it from the box.I love the two batteries. The charger works easily and well. I love how easy it is to adjust the mower height and to adjust to mower arm height. You can tell that a lot of thought and good engineering went into the design of this item.I did read several comments about battery drain when using the self-propelled feature constantly. That is understanadable when you consider the weight of this mower, and having batteries power the self-propelling of it for a prolonged period of time. So, I avoided using the self-propelled on easy parts of my yard. It takes me 70 - 90 minutes to mow my entire lawn, and the batteries were still well above 60% full afterwards. I used the self-propeller for about 30 mins of that time.Battery drain will also be influenced by the height of the grass being mowed, the number of hilly areas being mowed, and the speed you set for the self-propeller. For me, the two batteries were more than adequate for my mowing needs.Always be careful when using the self- propeller. Release the self-propeller bar before making 180-degree turns, or if you plan to pull the lawnmower backwards. Also, be sure to not use the self-propeller bar while starting the lawn mower. If you do, the lawn mower will quickly pull away from you. You’ll get the hang of this lawn mower pretty quickly. I feel very comfortable using it now after mowing my lawn a couple of times.Lastly, a big thanks to Amazon, for offering me the opportunity to pay for this mower in installments. Huge help in allowing me to select this high quality mower.Hope this review is helpful.Best and warmest wishes to you all.It comes out of the box ready to use, just charge the batteries, plug them into chassis, attach bag and you're off and running for about 110 minutes. The bag is easy to install and remove to empty. For safety reasons, the instructions require removal of the batteries before emptying the grass catcher. The handles have three heights, easily adjustable, and over 7 adjustments for the height of the deck. It is a bit louder than expected, and the motor generally runs at one speed. You can adjust the walking pace, but not the mower blade speed, which self-adjusts based on the effort it takes to spin the blade. The motor speed increases as you hit thicker patches of grass. If you need to stop and manually push, to cut around a tree, or other obstacle, the rear wheels need to rotate one full revolution without power in order to disengage the drive gear. This is not mentioned in the instruction manual. The 2 - 5 watt hour batteries are supposed to last 2.5 hours, but don't quite make it to 2 hours. If you use 2 - 4 watt hour batteries only last 90 minutes instead of the expected 2 hours. In order to cut 1/4 acre lot it required 3 battery changes, however, the third set was only partially discharged after 4 hours. The batteries also are too warm to start charging for over an hour, and take several hours to recharge using the charger that came with the mower. It is highly recommended to buy at least one extra pair of 5 watt hour batteries to have ready when the first pair are discharged.Since I have 1/2 acre, I was unable to complete my mowing session in a single outing. I suspect I would need 12 batteries to get the job done. I ended up using a second plug-in mower which I was using previously. It is nice not to have to drag a long electric cord all over the property. The unit is made to be stored sitting with the blade exposed, and instructions are quite clear about keeping the mower deck clean between uses, and to use a plastic scraper or wire brush to remove the grass debris that sticks to the underside of the deck and keep the mower blade sharp every 50 hours or so. The handle locks in place, and can easily be moved while folded up. It is very well designed and built to last.My biggest concern is the battery life, and their idea that 50 hours of use is several years usage. The manual claims this model is ideal for 1/4 to 1/2 acre lots. The motor can handle the continuous running time to support the claim, however, the battery life is a bit overstated. They might have boosted the battery running time by adding a separate battery to handle the self-propelled motor. The frame is a bit heavy, and could have been made of plastic or composite to make it lighter and easier to propelThe manual also makes a point not to use water or any solvents for cleanup, so that water does not damage the motor or controls. Overall, it is a sturdy machine, not likely to require much maintenance other than replacement batteries and keeping the blade sharp. As Doug Marcaida would say - it will cut!I purchased this mower to replace my old gas mower that died on me. I already had the Worx chainsaw, trimmer and drill that use the same batteries and have been happy with those, which is why I decided on this brand. I ended up going with the 14", knowing that it would be very small, in part because of price, in part because I have a very steep ditch that is difficult to mow, as well as very rough and lumpy areas that can also be tricky with a heavier machine. This mower works great for that, however, I may end up purchasing one of the larger models for the back yard because at only 14" it does take a lot of passes to finish. The batteries only have around 45 minutes of run time, but I have a million allergies, so even with a mask on, I don't have much more time than that before I need a Benadryl break anyway ? I did purchase a second set of high capacity batteries, which extends my run time to around 1.5 hours. The bag is small, so it does fill quickly, but the mulching attachment works great, even on longer grass. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase, just be aware that it is small, so if you have a larger area to cover you'll probably want to go with a larger model.I bought this mower for a couple of reasons. Firstly I wanted to go battery so I could stop trailing a cord from the front yard to the back and secondly because I already had other Worx tools so could swap in other batteries/chargers as needed. Now that I've had a good 4 months with the mower I'm still very happy. I have a relatively small, standard Toronto lot with a small square of grass out front and out back. When using it in 'Eco' mode I'm getting 4/5 cuts of both lawns, so charging the batteries maybe once a month to every 6 weeks. I had to use the 'Turbo' mode once when i left the grass too long and that did drain the batteries in one cut. For me this is fine though - 90% of the time I will be using 'Eco' mode and not having to charge it much. The lightness is definitely a bonus so I can carry it from the front to the back of the house without dropping clippings everywhere. On that note - I have only used the bag once, on the occasion that the grass was left too long. It did fill up fast and kept tripping the power off, but that could also have been down to moisture on the grass. For 90% of the cuts I've left the bag off and the mulch plug in and its worked perfectly, mulching up the grass small enough to avoid clumps. The final big bonus for me is that the handle folds up to the size of the mower. This has allowed me to store it on the bottom shelf of a storage unit instead of having to lean up against the inside of the garage like my old mower. Its not really much of a pain to loosen/tighten the four bolts every use as long as you make sure the cable to the handle does not get caught/kinked.Overall its done exactly what I needed it to with no complaints. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a larger (or even medium sized) lawn as its a smaller blade diameter and the battery won't last as long. But if you live in a city with a small lawn and little storage space its perfect.I appreciate that there is no human involvement in these review requests, so I'm giving this item a conditional 5 stars since it says "Lawn Mower" on the carton and that is, indeed, what I ordered, thus so far so good. Further analysis as conditions allow. I haven't evaluated its snow-clearing effectiveness, because that would be silly. But it self-identifies as a lawnmower, with pronouns 'it/its', so that's enough for now.I bought this WG779 lawnmower based on the positive reviews. When I opened the undamaged box, I found a little piece of orange plastic at the bottom of the box. I couldn't see at first where it was supposed to fit so I assembled the machine nonetheless. When time came to use it, I realized the broken plastic piece was the protruding end of the so called "Security Key" acts as a switch. The whole machine is useless without this flimsy, thin, fragile plastic piece.see picture. To prevent the hassle of returning it and convinced that replacements must be readily available, I contacted Worx customer service. They took 10 days before replying that YES they could replace it just to tell me 2 days later it was out of stock for months. That they had 2 spare ones but that I needed a USA address for them to ship it to me even though I’m in Canada ! They weren’t helpful, were slow to reply, they just waisted my time.Needless to say I won’t buy a Worx product again. This is an updated review after I had to return the first mower I received. If you have an average to small yard and don't require a heavy duty machine (i.e. you cut your lawn regularly and don't have a lot of leaves to deal with) this machine is suitable.PROSThe mower is lightweight plastic and was very easy to "assemble"- you just attach the handle. It folds easily for compact storage. The mower is relatively light and easy to manoeuvre. The mower is effective in regular-height to tall grass and over a variety of terrain. The double charger (included) is a must given the two-battery design.CONSThe "key" is a cheap bit of plastic that could easily be damaged. The operating bail and handle are flimsy. The mulch bag is awkward to attach/detach.The mower struggles to cut/mulch leaves. The foam rubber covering the handle is low quality. The mower is designed to a price point and it shows. The design and construction mean it is not easily repaired by the user.WORX appears to have very low QA/QC standards. The first mower I received had a serious defect. The height adjustment lever had not been installed properly, and due to the design of the mower/wheel assembly a home fix was non trivial. The return process was easy (except for having to get the mower to a shipping center). The replacement mower was fully functional, however, the foam covering on the handle had a 3 inch tear and the key was wedged between a wheel and the mower body and had to be pried out. I decided to live with the torn foam. It's a fine mower, cuts through any height of grass or weeds, easy to move around. But the battery is trash. First mow I did the whole yard in one charge (big yard, say 30 minutes). Second mow I got maybe half done. Left them to charge for 3 hours and came back to do the rest and they were only half charged. So for 15 minutes of charge you need to charge them for 6 hours. And to buy a second set of 2 (you need 2 to run it and they only sell them individually) is $100 PER BATTERY. Major regrets happening here I won't lie. Only buy this mower if your yard can be done in like 10 minutes tops.
