Having wireless CarPlay is so convenient but it also has some downsides. This little device does get the job done for a rather low cost and I would recommend it. Here are my takeaways after having used it for about a month.Pros:• Makes CarPlay fully wireless. You don’t have to reach into your pocket to connect your phone every time you get into your car.• Not having to plug in your phone for CarPlay also means not having to leave your phone constantly connected to power. This mean not overcharging the phone’s battery and potentially keeping the phone cooler.Cons:• There is a slight delay from the phone to the car from due to the wireless nature of this device, so phone calls specifically can be affected by this delay.• It’s slightly more difficult to connect another persons phone as it automatically only connects to the last phone it used through Bluetooth. If you share a car with someone this can be annoying to have to manually connect to the adaptor each time.• If the device doesn’t connect you may need to check that your phone is connected to the devices correct Bluetooth. When this happens it can be frustrating and you may need to wait a little bit for the connection to start.Neutral:• When you first get the device you will need to ensure it is on the latest firmware which entails connecting it to WiFi and navigating to the devices IP address. Instructions are included and easy enough yo follow. You will need to do this though before you put the device in your car.• While fairly small, the dongle still needs a place to live and depending on where your car’s CarPlay plug is, you will need to find a place to leave the dongle. Thankfully the package comes with a few short cables to connect to the car. I used some sticky Velcro to attach the dongle to the side of the console to keep it out of my way. The photos show the connection stick that I used at first until it was too cumbersome being in the way.Overall this is a good product and I would recommend for most people unless you take A LOT of phone calls in your car. If so, all wireless CarPlay in its current form will likely be too delayed to have non-frustrating conversations.
