Works other brand battery. Almost identical with original tool except build quality not as good as original. A little rough around the edges. Worth the price though.Buy this thing if you want to save a little bit of money and don't care about precision at all. As it is, it will be useful for some things: making glued or maybe even tight-fit joints hidden from sight, but don't expect good results if you want to make moving parts or need a nice surface finish. The only part in which I have found no defects (yet) is the base casting. Other defects are:1. The plastic sub-base is nowhere near flat: there is a 0.5mm bulge near the center.2. The sub-base is mounted with an offset, protruding more than 0.5mm on one of the flat sides; if you forget on which side you aligned, you're in for an unpleasant surprise.3. Slide posts are 0.3 .. 0.5 mm out-of-round and their diameter varies 0.5 .. 0.7mm lengthwise.4. Slide posts are not parallel, spaced 0.15mm wider at the top than at the base.5. The average clearance between the posts and the bushings is 0.15mm. It could not be reduced without jamming the slide, due to misalignment and shape defects listed above. As such, it results in 0.3 .. 0.5° wobble in all directions.6. The depth set screw is made of steel instead of brass. It gouges the surface of the post it presses on. That may not be a problem in the short term, due to wide clearance, but eventually, even that clearance will not be enough to prevent binding.7. The plastic set screw handle is too loose and too thin where the return spring is supposed to rest. The spring escapes, jams, and does not return.8. The rods in the edge guide bracket are non-coplanar by 3°. They can only move a short distance without jamming.9. The molded wing knobs on edge guide set screws are unpleasantly loose and compression springs loading them are not ground at the ends. They are installed without washers, biting into the knobs and into the base. Same problem as with the depth screw: the screws are as hard or harder than the rods; The messy wing knob / spring operation makes it hard to judge the force while tightening the set screws.10. The molded base handles have unpleasant burrs at the parting line.11. Neither the depth stop turret nor its resting surface on the base have been faced. Both surfaces are coated with thick runny paint; in addition, the base surface has uncleaned molding spew, making it even rougher. Guess why the shoulder screw holding the turret was not tight. You're right: the turret would not pivot if it were tight.12. The detents on the bottom side of the turret have odd shapes (drilled with extreme chatter) and are not co-axial with the screws.13. The thread on the depth screw is so rough it eats through the aluminum half-nut like a file.None of these issues is accidental. You won't fix any by returning the thing and asking for a replacement. Some are relatively easy to fix; for example, (11) and (12) can be fixed by grinding the mating surfaces and dressing the detents; brazing soft metal on the tip of the set screw can fix (6), replacing edge guide screws with brass and adding washers will fix (9). Rods can probably be aligned by bending. But replacing the bushings will be a big deal; unless you have access to a machine shopt, it can cost you more than a well-made router base.Since I am stuck with it, I will attempt to salvage it by electroplating the bushings. This router was easy to get set up and started with. It works well and with no experience, I was able to use it successfully the first try.The small roller guide that came with my router was bent and locked down. And the hole it screwed into was tapped at an angle, not straight. Also one tooth on the metal rack was broken off. At least it works with my Makita batteries.I have not used this yet, but feels solid. Plunges well, nothing seizes. Most importantly, fits my Avid Power compact router that I already owned. Will update this review if I run into any issues.I bought this plunger for a up coming job and not one mention about the router having to be a corded router. Mine is cordless and this unit is to small. It would have been nice for y'all to mention Will not accept cordless compact routers so you will be getting this back due to shady description and usagesMy router didn't fit. It was a little bit to big to fit into the plunger.I do a bit of wood work and have seen this router under another brand name before for double the price so right away it gets a few extra points for being 50% cheaper than the exact competition. I also got the plunge base for the router so that it could be useful on larger jobs.I have included some photos of the unit as a complete package as well as some cuts I did for a project.Pros:1) You get a solid router that feels like it will last.2) Has a lot lot of adjustment points and attachments that make doing most jobs much easier.3) Two batteries are included which is nice4 The charger takes a couple of hours to charge. I have use the first battery for about 3 hours and it is still running at full speed with about half the life left.5) It makes very clean cuts and is stable. I have not found much deviation when checking long cuts.6 Vacuum attachment is a nice extra.Cons:1) The included outside housing is not perfectly milled and had an edge or two that caused it to Jam when I tried to move the motor up and down. I had to knock it out with a mallet and then Dremel off two small burrs of metal. As you can see it left scratches on the motor housing.2) I wish they had included at least one bit with the unit. I can imagine how frustrating this would be to someone who just got this and did not have some routing bits already.3) The LED light is really dim. It works in a pinch in a dark room but is not terribly useful.Overall a pretty good router. I think it will hold up very well over the years.
